PhD Student (Berry and Potato Pathology)

The Berry and Potato Pathology Program is looking for a PhD student to work on a project focusing on Botrytis fruit rot management in blueberries. The prospective student will potentially start in Fall 2026/Spring 2027 to work in the Berry and Potato Pathology program located at Washington State University Mount Vernon Northwestern Washington Research and Extension Center. Please note that the prospective student will be working at a research center in Mount Vernon, WA, but not on the main campus in Pullman, WA.

Required qualifications

  • A master’s degree in plant pathology or an appropriate related scientific discipline.
  • Knowledge of fundamental plant pathology principles, and experience applying those principles in field, laboratory, or greenhouse research experiments.
  • Effective communication (written and oral) and evidence of quality research publications in peer-reviewed journals (published or submitted).
