Identification and biology of root weevils
Presented by Ben Diehl, WSU NWREC Entomology. 12:00 – 12:30 pm
Ben Diehl received a B.S. in Entomology from The Ohio State University and a M.S. in Entomology from Texas A&M University, researching the taxonomy and systematics of antlions (family Myrmeleontidae). He moved with his wife to the Skagit Valley in 2015 and has worked in the Entomology laboratory at the WSU NWREC for the past two years. He has assisted on variety of projects, including the identification of thrips species from Alaskan peonies, diversity of lepidopteran pests in small fruit and monitoring for brown marmorated stink bug and spotted wing Drosophila. While not in the lab he enjoys hiking, camping, maintaining a backyard insect collection and spending time with his family, including his new puppy, Merlin.

Charlie Coslor received his B.S. in Biology and M.S. in Entomology from WSU, studying spotted wing Drosophila management at NWREC. He received his Ph.D. from Michigan State University in 2017, focusing on insect pests of apple orchards. Originally from Skagit Valley, he moved back to practice entomology in a diverse ag system, and live closer to family.
