Dr. Thomas Walters has been at WSU-NWREC since 2005. He earned his Ph.D in Plant Breeding and Biometry from Cornell University in 1991, and earned a B.A. in Biology from Reed College in 1983. His research focuses on irrigation and fertility management for berry crops to produce great yields, promote healthy plants and maintain safe drinking water. Tom, his wife Lynn, and their two children live in Anacortes, where they all enjoy biking, playing in the Forest Lands, gardening, and throwing balls for Sam the Dog..
Michael Particka, Research Associate, began working at WSU Mount Vernon NWREC in January of 2006 with the small fruit program. He received his M.S. degree in Agronomy from University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2001 and his B.S. degree in Crop and Soil Sciences from Michigan State University in 1998. Mike has been involved in all aspects of research while working for Michigan State University and Montana State University. Mike is responsible for carrying out all aspects of field greenhouse and laboratory research.
